To manage Trade staff members (across various geographical locations) ensuring efficient functioning of the assigned section(s) in line with Bank procedures and service standards and in compliance with regulatory guidelines and relevant ICC rules.

To process Trade transactions maintaining high standards of service to our customers and also offer consultation to Customers in structuring transactions; including assessment of risk and mitigation thereof.

To develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners across multiple functions.

To identify process re-engineering opportunities for improved business practices and cost savings and staff are appropriately utilized and developed.

Support a well-managed risk awareness culture across the Operations functions

Proficiency in all Trade products and providing necessary technical support matters related to Trade Finance to Business/Credit/Customers.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensures the effective achievement of functional objectives of assigned sections/units through the leadership of the Operations functions.
  • To lead a team of Trade operational staff in a Centralised environment, ensuring that service standards, legal and regulatory requirements are met as per agreed standards at all times.
  • To set their objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating team including provision of formal and informal feedback & appraisal
  • Reviews processes, procedures and systems to ensure opportunities for improvements are identified which will ultimately benefit customers and makes recommendations to the relevant stake holders for implementation of changes. Ensuring changes are co-ordinated effectively to minimise associated costs and staff impact.
  • To work closely with the Business and other stake holders and ensure that the service delivered is of top quality in line with industry standards and that customer needs are well attended according to service level agreements.
  • Immediate escalation and documentation to Head of Trade Services, the Chief Operations Officer and the Head of Operational Risk and Compliance of any breach, risk or loss event suspected through real time incident reports. Conduct Root Cause analysis and implement corrective actions arising from such cases and any other reviews.
  • Assists or Conducts training programs or workshops to Trade team, non-trade staff, business teams and customers.
  • Creates meaningful MIS and Metrics to continuously monitor and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the unit. Conduct monthly track reviews on cost and identify saving opportunities
  • Effectively manages the utilization of resources within the team including work flow planning and manpower resource planning to ensure adequate resourcing at all times.
  • Provides support to Head of Trade Services on special projects
  • Provides back-up to peers and line managers in internal and external meetings also representing the business/Bank.
  • To keep up to date with industry and regulatory changes effecting the unit and to recommend appropriate plans to Head of Trade Services to comply with such including continuous re-engineering of processes, training or development for the team
  • To Drive change initiatives across the team, lead a culture of innovation, adaptability, flexibility and responsiveness
  • To assist in realigning the department’s organization structure in support of NBF’s drive to increase customer focus throughout the bank.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 15 years of banking experience in handling Global Trade Products and managing larger group of people/teams in Trade Operations across trade centres.
  • In-depth knowledge of Trade Services Products, Operational implementation, product mechanics and risks
  • Detailed knowledge on Trade processing and operations and relevant ICC rules
  • Trade specific qualification such as Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP by ICC Academy) recognised by the Internal Chamber of Commerce
  • Attention to Detail and Quality Standards
