This position sits within a specialist arbitration‑led disputes platform handling complex, high‑value international cases. The structure is lean and partner‑led, with associates closely involved in strategy, drafting and advocacy rather than operating in a narrow support role. Work is technically demanding and responsibility is real.
Associates are expected to exercise judgment, take ownership of defined work streams and contribute meaningfully to the development and presentation of cases.
The RoleYou will work directly with partners and senior lawyers across offices on major international disputes, with exposure across the full life cycle of proceedings.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing case theory and strategy alongside partners and senior team members
- Drafting substantive written submissions and coordinating input from junior lawyers
- Managing research and document review exercises efficiently and with sound judgment
- Assisting in the preparation of witness and expert evidence
- Dealing directly with clients, witnesses, experts, tribunals and opposing counsel
This role is likely to suit a lawyer who can demonstrate:
- At least three years’ experience acting on international commercial and or investment arbitration matters
- Exposure to construction or infrastructure disputes, including delay, technical or quantum issues, viewed favourably
- A strong academic background
- Full professional fluency in English
- Additional language capability, including Arabic, welcomed
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Clear, economical and persuasive written advocacy
- Strong analytical skills when addressing complex legal and factual issues
- A sound understanding of arbitration procedure and practice
- Precision, structure and accuracy in written work product
- Confidence contributing orally to case discussions and hearings
- The ability to manage work streams independently and support junior lawyers effectively
- Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues at all levels
