Cloud Migration Architect - VMware Specialist

Core Skills & Responsibilities (Must-Have)

• ✔️ 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with 5+ years leading large-scale data center & workload migration programs
• ✔️ Deep expertise across the full VMware ecosystem — vSphere (6.x/7.x/8.x), ESXi, vCenter Server, NSX-T, vSAN, VMware Cloud Director (VCD)
• ✔️ Strong experience with vRealize Suite / Aria (vROps, vRA) and vRealize Network Insight (vRNI) for discovery, assessment, and planning
• ✔️ Lead workload discovery & dependency mapping initiatives to assess migration readiness
• ✔️ Architect private cloud target zones and define end-to-end migration methodologies
• ✔️ Hands‑on experience with migration tools — VMware HCX, vSphere Replication, VCDA, Zerto, Carbonite Migrate, Azure Migrate
• ✔️ Design and document detailed HLDs, LLDs, migration runbooks, and cutover plans
• ✔️ Strong knowledge of data center networking — TCP/IP, BGP, VPN, MPLS, IPsec, SDN
• ✔️ Experience with SAN/NAS storage, enterprise backup, and hybrid connectivity models
• ✔️ Orchestrate migration waves and lead cutover activities with minimal business disruption
• ✔️ Design secure identity & access integration strategies in target environments
• ✔️ Ensure alignment with enterprise security and compliance frameworks
• ✔️ Establish governance models, standards, and repeatable migration frameworks
• ✔️ Strong troubleshooting and escalation handling during complex migration scenarios

• ➕ VMware certifications (VCP / VCAP)
• ➕ Experience in multi‑cloud or hybrid cloud environments
• ➕ Exposure to Docker / Kubernetes environments
• ➕ Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or enterprise architecture frameworks
• ➕ Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills
• ➕ Willingness to travel and support after‑hours migration cutovers
