Overview and Objectives of the Position:

Lecturers at Murdoch University Dubai are responsible for delivering high quality education to a diverse cohort of students. Responsibilities will include delivery of lectures and labs to UG and diploma students, marking of assignments and supporting students in their work.

The role supports the University’s commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance and professional standards by ensuring that students develop a strong theoretical foundation and applied capability in investigating, analysing and responding to cyber security incidents.

The primary objective of this position is to facilitate student learning, engagement and achievement through effective delivery of lectures and workshops, practical demonstrations of forensic and security operations tools, and rigorous academic assessment. The Visiting Lecturer will ensure students are able to collect, analyse and interpret digital evidence, apply incident response frameworks, and understand the legal and ethical dimensions of cyber forensic investigations, in alignment with approved unit learning outcomes and Australian higher-education standards.

Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Delivery
  • Deliver high-quality lectures and workshops in Cyber Forensics and Incident Response in accordance with the approved unit outline.
  • Present both theoretical concepts and applied practices relating to digital forensics, security operations and incident response.
  • Demonstrate the use of cyber forensic and SOC tools in learning activities.
Student Engagement and Academic Support
  • Support students in understanding forensic investigation processes, incident response frameworks and evidence analysis techniques.
  • Guide students through the collection, examination and interpretation of digital evidence.
  • Provide academic mentoring to assist students in meeting learning outcomes.
Selection Criteria Essential Qualifications
  • AQF Level 8 (Postgraduate) or higher in Cyber Security, Cyber Forensics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Equivalent professional standing supported by substantial and relevant industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Proven expertise in cyber forensic and incident response tools.
  • Strong capability in digital evidence discovery, analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil law relating to cyber investigations.
  • Experience working with Windows, Linux and virtualised environments.
  • In-depth understanding of Security Operations Centre (SOC) workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk and QRadar.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to students.
  • Understand the fundamentals of cyber forensics, security operations and incident response.
  • Apply appropriate forensic and security tools to investigate cyber incidents.
  • Collect, analyse and report digital evidence in a professional and legally compliant manner.
  • Understand the legal and ethical considerations of cyber investigations.
  • Use SOC and SIEM tools to identify and respond to security threats.
  • Detect, analyse and respond to cyber security incidents through forensic investigation.
