Lab Analyst

Duration: 6 Months (Temp Contract)
Position: Lab Analyst - Microbiology

Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for microbiological and pathogen analyses, reading and recording of results on worksheets and reporting to supervisor. Responsible for performing ICPs (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) and report any deviation to supervisor. Ensure compliance to 5S practices within the lab.

• Media Preparation: prepare media per Laboratory Instructions/Internal Standard Operating Procedures, maintain minimum stock level of prepared media and chemicals with proper identification and storage, and maintain the media stock record updating when a bottle is transferred from stock count to operational count.
• Internal Control Plan: perform the Internal Control Plan as per the described schedule of the concerned area.
• General Micro Lab and Pathogen Lab: conduct general microbiology or Salmonella analysis per Laboratory Instructions/Official Methods/other procedures; count/read results, fill worksheets accurately during analysis, and report results to the supervisor; prepare samples for retention with proper identification of analysis and disposal date.
• Sample Registration: register samples per Internal Standard Operating Procedures, prepare worksheets for tests, arrange samples sequentially, register using SAP within defined timelines; verify samples from NQAC Dubai for compliance; hand over registered samples to analysts with LV QC batch and correct labeling; ensure timely acknowledgment and health checks; liaise with customers on sample and analysis request forms; communicate via courteous and professional email;
  
  ensure visitors understand Safety and Hygiene information; send samples to other NQACs or laboratories via courier.
• Safety: ensure laboratory safety training is current; be aware of risks and minimize them; report health problems that may affect work or lab operations; follow S&H rules and highlight new risks as identified.
• Dimensions / KPIs: monitor Turn Around Time for General Microbiology and Pathogen Analysis; strive for excellent proficiency test ratings; achieve satisfactory customer service feedback; maintain safety metrics and timely sample registration.
• Inventory Custodian: perform monthly inventory of stocks (media/chemicals/disposables/labware) by month end and update lists by day 3; manage counts for items at ALERT/Minimum levels and near expiry; ensure correct labels (Hold/Release) on bottles; initiate media performance checks on new media batches; perform volume validation and leak tests for disposable pipettes and Nalgene liners before release.
• Additional Responsibilities: inform supervisor of any deviations in analytical results or lab activities; participate in DOR, contribute ideas for operational improvements; adhere to GLP and lab safety, use PPE as instructed; apply 5S and maintain clean as you go; participate in P test and achieve satisfactory Z-score ranges.

• Minimum Qualification:
  
  Degree in Microbiology or related science
• 1-2 years of relevant testing experience (practical)
• Good English communication

• Maintain impartiality of laboratory activities without undue influence
• Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained or created during laboratory activities
