The TeamThe Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex safeguards operations, fosters a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, and manages legal, compliance and financial risks. The Global Regulatory Compliance Team is part of the second line of defence (2
LOD) and partners with the business to enable growth while ensuring regulatory obligations are met. This role is a newly created position focused on the UAE, based in Dubai with a reporting line to the Associate Director, Regulatory Compliance, UK & ME (London).
As Manager, Regulatory Compliance, UAE you will deliver the regulatory engagement strategy for Airwallex across the UAE. You will maintain licensing responsibilities, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, communicate regulatory requirements, collaborate cross-functionally to productize solutions, implement processes, file reports, renew registrations and licenses, manage regulatory examinations end-to-end, and interface with regulators on inquiries. LOD controls are fit for purpose and compliant with regulatory obligations, guiding the first line to mature customer-facing and back-office processes and product features.
- Support Airwallex Group’s expansion by managing the regulatory compliance components of licence authorisation processes
- Act as a key stakeholder in relation to licence applications, business plan updates and information requests between Airwallex and regulators
- Ensure regulatory compliance and integrity risk reporting obligations are maintained in the region
- Support and/or manage on-site exams and inspections in collaboration with LRC colleagues
- Advise the business on regulatory change initiatives, focusing on how to manage compliance risk related to new laws and regulations
- Develop policies, processes and provide advice related to regulatory risk obligations in the 1st line business
- Manage regulatory compliance risk within the Airwallex Risk Management Framework and escalation process (including the Group Risk Committee)
- Advise the business on conduct risk and ethics matters related to our financial services licences
- Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program and conduct targeted/thematic reviews to ensure organisational maturity
- Deliver the Group’s Compliance Training for employees and conduct ad-hoc training as required
- Conduct proactive projects to unlock business or operational issues and enable strategic goals
We are looking for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. Preferred qualifications are nice to have but not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of regulatory compliance experience in a financial institution, Fin Tech, legal/consulting firm, or combination
- Familiarity with financial regulatory laws, rules, regulations and best practices in the UAE and across the EMEA region
- Data proficiency and ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
