The HSBC Infrastructure Finance group (HIF), comprised of Infrastructure Finance and Export Finance, provides a full suite of financing solutions to corporates and financial sponsors in the sub sectors of Infrastructure (airports, roads, ports, rail, PPP, digital infra, core plus), Telecoms, Real Estate, Logistics, Support Services, Power & Utilities & Renewables (PURE) and Commodities (Metals & Mining, selected Oil & Gas).

HIF delivers product-agnostic capital structure advice and executes project finance, export finance and structured debt mandates globally. HIF consists of over 160 employees located in 14 countries with key hubs in London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York. The MENAT team is a core execution hub supporting origination, structuring and delivery of complex infrastructure transactions across the region. HIF plays a key role in HSBC’s sustainable finance ambitions and the financing of the energy transition.

HIF is seeking an ambitious individual to join the team as an Associate to support the growing business across HIF MENAT.

In this role, the key responsibilities will include:
  • Transaction Execution & Risk Analysis
    • Review and interpret project documentation (e.g. concession agreements, EPC/O&M contracts, offtake agreements, financing and security documents) and assess risk allocation and bankability.
    • Critically analyse and summarise for internal presentation commercial, technical, environmental and legal due diligence reports.
    • Contribute to credit papers and internal approval materials with clear articulation of key risks and mitigants.
  • Financial Modelling & Capital Assessment
    • Build, review and stress test integrated project finance models.
    • Perform sensitivities, downside analysis and debt sizing.
    • Assess returns, capital consumption and sustainability considerations to support business-side approvals.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Coordinate with Syndicate, Legal, Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS), Issuer Services, Credit Risk, Relationship Management and other internal stakeholders.
    • Engage with sponsors and external advisers as part of transaction execution.
    • Manage multiple work streams across transactions and time zones in a fast-paced environment and challenging deadlines.
  • Origination & Team Contribution
    • Support preparation of marketing materials and structuring proposals.
    • Supervise and review work of Analysts and Graduates.
    • Contribute to knowledge development within the team.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Experience in project finance, structured finance, infrastructure advisory or related lending products.
  • Strong financial modelling capability, including integrated project finance models.
  • Good understanding of project finance documentation structure and risk allocation principles.
  • Solid credit analysis skills, including covenant and security package assessment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline (required). Professional qualification (e.g. CFA, MBA) preferred.
  • A graduation degree is essential for obtaining a UAE visa and work permit. If your university certificate is from outside the UAE, up-to-date attestations and equivalency are also mandatory (Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications Issued Outside The UAE).
