During an internship in the fast-paced FMCG industry, an accounting intern can gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of finance. Here’s what the role typically involves:

• Supporting the finance team with recording daily transactions and reconciling bank and cash accounts.
• Assisting in inventory tracking and costing, including helping with monthly stock counts.
• Handling supplier invoices and customer payments, and learning how to manage payables and receivables efficiently.
• Getting exposure to product costing and margin analysis - understanding how pricing and logistics impact profitability.
• Helping prepare financial summaries, VAT reports, and performance dashboards for management.
• Participating in month-end closing activities, such as accruals, reconciliations, and document reviews.
• Building good accounting habits through filing, ERP training, and audit support, while learning the day-to-day rhythm of a finance department.

• Basic understanding of IFRS and UAE tax laws
