Position OverviewMetso Middle East is looking for a senior EIA specialist for a greenfield pellet processing plant in Egypt with very strong automation skills; the nameplate capacity is a total of 5.0 million tons per year for iron ore concentrate processing.
- Key equipment in the beneficiation section: ball mills, magnetic separators (WLIMS/HGMS), concentrate filters thickeners, flotation cells, and pumps.
- Key equipment in the pelletizing section: pelletizing discs for green pellet formation, travelling grate, rotary kiln, annular cooler, burners, and reciprocating conveyors.
- Key equipment in automation and control:
Siemens PCS7-based system with SCADA/HMI (WinCC), Profibus/Profinet networks, and safety instrumented systems for burners.
Site will be operating with roster, transportation and flights to/from site provided by Metso. Work contract will be fixed for 2 years, with a possibility to extend.
The purpose of the job is to be part of the site production and maintenance team, providing technical support and expertise to the customer in its operations. The site is greenfield and, after commissioning, will be ramped up to nameplate production. Work will include tasks typical to a green field site where team members must be trained and coached in maintenance and production processes.
Maintenance operation processes and instructions to operate need to be built. As a senior member you will lead and contribute to developing these processes.
The Role
- Work as a senior EIA specialist of a pellet processing plant. Manage daily EIA activities to achieve or exceed specified production. Manage EIA site organization, develop teams, and monitor and guide the client’s maintenance team through advisory support.
- Support plant stabilization and oversee gradual ramp‑up to target throughput. Follow site maintenance strategy/annual plan, ensuring that planning and design can support and sustain the projected targets in coordination with other site functions.
- Participate actively in alignment meetings between client, partners, and Metso team. Continuously develop practices and methods to provide a profitable, safe and sound operation, directing all EIA operational and process development work on site.
- Ensure that production is managed optimally and delivers targets from the delivered ore to meet all customer specifications. Contribute to brainstorming sessions for de‑bottlenecking and resolving operational challenges. Verify process parameters and ensure adherence to commissioning protocols.
- Mentor junior maintenance engineers on best practices and problem‑solving. Train them during live plant operations and ensure knowledge transfer for long‑term sustainability.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with policy. Monitor safety compliance and provide recommendations and feedback.
- Motivate personnel to achieve sustained high levels of performance and coordinate all EIA department personnel to ensure training and career development opportunities. Ensure compliance with environmental standards during commissioning activities.
- Collaborate and facilitate activities for Metso equipment specialists (on‑site or online). Support performance testing and acceptance criteria verification.
- Excellent service attitude with strong customer‑service focus.

- Solid pellet/minerals processing operation experience and high problem‑solving skills.
- +10 years relevant experience from pelletizing/metallurgical/mineral processing plants automation, electrical, and instrument execution.
- Experience in managing crews.
- Previous greenfield/commissioning/ramp‑up experience.
- Ability to motivate and lead others and to manage and control complex situations, changes, and crises appropriately.
- Good communication skills.
- English skills (written and spoken).
- Cooperation with all stakeholders at the site.
