Design Manager - MEP

Emirates Electrical Engineering is a specialized business platform that provides comprehensive turnkey solutions combining development, financing, construction and operation of solar rooftops for commercial and industrial building in the UAE, also a responsive and flexible organization dedicated for the design and construction of turnkey electrical power projects such as High Voltage Substations, Cable Networks and Transmission Lines.

The primary responsibility of a Design manager is to manage the design activities in an MEP project to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and scope and to monitor or track project milestones and deliverables. The incumbent is accountable for planning and assigning activities to a team of design engineers in order to complete the overall design of MEP Project including HVAC, Fire Protection, Lighting, Small Power, ELV systems, Plumping and Drainage installations in accordance with project schedule.

• Responsible for overall strategic planning of the project design activities to ensure timely delivery of the project in accordance with the project schedule.
• Responsible for monitor, control and implementing the corrective actions with respect to design activities.
• Responsible for resource utilization during project design realization.
• Oversee the project performance with regards to time, cost and ensure timely delivery of project design by meeting quality standards.
• Maintain and review issue log for the cost and time impact on the project design during the execution.
• Tracking of the project schedule and preparation and submission of weekly Progress reports to Project Manager / Divisional Manager and the internal teams.
• Conduct periodic internal team progress review meeting on weekly basis and document how the design activities will be executed, monitored and controlled.
• Responsible for planning and updating of design activities in the project plan on weekly and monthly basis in consultation with the Project Manager.
• Liaise with Project Manager / Divisional Manager on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and project plan changes.
• Ensure timely delivery of all MEP works design related client approvals including by enforcing adequate tracking mechanism.
• Review, maintain and manage log book on daily activities of design team.
• Review and maintain historical data for all design issues.
• Responsible for issuing technical clearance of Manufacturing, FAT, dispatch, and inspection certificate related activities from the client.
• Collaborate with the ESCO team to incorporate energy-saving measures into the design of MEP works.
• Imparting In house and outside necessary technical training, enriching the Knowledge of team members and improving the capacity of the Design department.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Post-Graduation in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering desired

• Minimum 7 years of overall experience in design of MEP projects for residential and commercial towers and industrial buildings.
• Minimum 4 years of managerial experience in design of MEP projects for residential and commercial towers and industrial buildings in UAE or any other GCC countries.
• ESCO industry experience preferred.

• Knowledge of MEP systems, engineering and construction practices, and authority regulations.
• Proficiency in software like HAP, AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM, DIALUX, AMTECH and CABLE PRO.
• Thorough knowledge in HVAC design, plumbing, and drainage.
• Strong skills in electrical design and problem-solving.
• Proven expertise in building and leading teams to produce efficient and cost-effective MEP designs.
• Strong leadership capabilities to manage a team of design engineers and draftsmen.
• Willingness to conduct site visits and attend client meetings.
• Possession of a valid UAE driving license.
