Job Description
Reporting to the System Engineering Manager, the IVVQ Engineer is responsible for deploying, integrating, and testing the RCS Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system Level 1 devices on both test and production platforms. This role includes maintaining the platforms of the ABT L1 Devices project, covering aspects from network management and virtualization tools to OP5 software.
IVVQ – Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the technical site manager and lead the hardware and software deployment and upgrades of all AFC L1 devices and back‑office systems, including Metro Gates, Ticket Vending Machines (TVM), Ticket Office Machines (TOM), Tram Validators, Car Park equipment barriers, cash registers, and back‑office software.
- Represent client in meetings with various stakeholders, providing technical assistance to customers, the project team, and subcontractors on engineering aspects of subsystems within a complex rail brown field project, from design to customer acceptance.
- Define and provide solutions that meet cost, performance, schedule, scope, and quality requirements.
- Develop necessary documentation for the management of IVVQ.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise the IVVQ platform(s) of the project.
- Participate in system integration activities.
- Be involved in the qualification of the system architecture of the project solution.
- Administer the integration platform and support the development platform.
- Perform system integration on representative platforms.
- Deploy all necessary tools to monitor and troubleshoot the platform.
- Manage and support the test team/IVVQ in the installation and configuration of various services, device software updates, and upgrades.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding services/solutions and follow‑up.
- Support the Technical Site Manager.
- Contribute to configuration management.
- Strong expertise in virtualised environment (VMware certification is a plus).
- Strong experience in deployment automation tools such as Ansible.
- Understanding of software development cycle (Agile certification is a plus).
- Experience in administering Linux systems and basic scripting languages.
- Network and interface design.
- Strong ability to work both independently and as a team to solve problems.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Good communication and cross‑team collaboration skills.
- Capability in a pressure environment.
- Customer and multi‑party interface.
- Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation.
- Must be able to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, effectively prioritise the issues and needs while remaining detail‑oriented in a fast‑paced setting and adapting to changing priorities.
Qualifications
Work Experience Requirements
- Rail experience and specifically Automatic Fare Collection System card and account based systems is a must.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, all Microsoft Workstation and Server, and Linux OS.
- Excellent working knowledge of RHEL operating systems.
- Experience in upgrading server/workstations for operational systems.
- VMware experience/exposure – highly desired.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in complex system integration.
Qualification, Certification & Educational Requirements & Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
- Agile certification is a plus.
- Linux.
- Microsoft Windows.
- VMware (VCP will be an advantage).
- Microsoft Active Directory.
- Networking knowledge is a plus.
- Configuration management tools.
