Docking Operations Manager

Location: Dubai

Salary: AED 20,000 to 22,000 plus benefits

Summary:

The Docking Operations Manager will oversee and direct all vessel manoeuvring, docking, and undocking activities, ensuring that every operation is conducted with precision, safety, and efficiency. The role carries accountability for the planning, coordination, and execution of marine lifting, transfer, and berthing operations in alignment with company procedures and client expectations.

Must have experience handling AHTS, Tugs & Large Vessels.

Responsibilities
  • Implement departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions, ensuring compliance and consistency across all docking operations.
  • Enforce strict adherence to company information security and confidentiality regulations.
  • Maintain operational discipline by ensuring all activities are executed within approved control frameworks.
  • Supervise the end‑to‑end docking cycle, including appraisal, planning, execution, and reporting of ship lifting, transfer, and dry berthing operations.
  • Lead and guide the Dockmasters, Ship Lift Operators, Dock Workers, and associated personnel, ensuring coordinated, safe, and timely operations.
  • Assume full responsibility for the condition, maintenance, and performance of ship lifts, cradles, transfer carriages, towing systems, and all related tools and equipment.
  • Oversee the accuracy of operational documentation and verify all service records prior to submission for invoicing.
  • Review and approve docking plans, block settings, and vessel stability calculations to ensure safe load distribution and structural integrity.
  • Chair pre‑docking conferences with vessel representatives, pilots, and other stakeholders to align on procedures, vessel parameters, and safety measures.
  • Maintain updated records and conduct regular inspections of all lifting gear, wire slings, shackles, and rigging components.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with the company’s HSE and quality management systems.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of naval architecture and marine engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in docking calculations, vessel stability assessments, and equipment capacity management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Certified in ship lifting and docking operations; exposure to different vessel types preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Dockmaster or in a senior marine operations capacity overseeing docking and undocking procedures.
