Key Responsibilities Review project specifications, drawings, and design documents to determine material requirements Recommend suitable construction materials based on technical specifications, environmental conditions, durability, and cost considerations Ensure all selected materials comply with applicable standards such as ASTM, BS, ISO, and client requirements Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for materials used on the project Conduct inspections and oversee testing of materials to verify compliance with approved standards and specifications Approve or reject materials based on test results, inspection findings, and project requirements Monitor material quality during manufacturing, delivery, storage, and installation on site Oversee laboratory and on-site testing of concrete, asphalt, steel, soil, aggregates, and other construction materials Review and approve material test reports, certificates of compliance, and technical documentation Identify, document, and manage non-conforming materials and ensure timely corrective actions Coordinate with procurement teams to source materials from approved suppliers and evaluate vendor performance Conduct supplier and manufacturer audits to verify compliance with quality standards Identify opportunities to optimize material usage, reduce waste, and recommend cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality Monitor material costs and ensure alignment with project budgets Maintain accurate records of material approvals, test results, inspections, and quality control activities Prepare and submit regular material quality and compliance reports to project management Liaise with regulatory authorities and certification bodies as required to ensure compliance with standards and regulations Provide technical support to design engineers, site teams, and contractors on material-related matters Investigate material defects, failures, or non-conformances and recommend preventive and corrective measures Support training and mentoring of junior engineers, technicians, and site staff on material quality practices Ideal Profile Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline Minimum 12 years of construction experience, including at least 5 years on large-scale infrastructure projects in the UAE Strong knowledge of construction material properties, testing methods, and international standards Proven ability to analyze test data, identify material issues, and recommend effective solutions
