Senior Transport Planner - RTA Approved

Overview

We are seeking a qualified Senior Transport Planner (RTA Approved) with 12‑15 years of transport planning/traffic engineering experience in the Middle East. The candidate must be a degree‑qualified professional with a minimum of 12‑15 years of transport planning and traffic engineering experience in the Middle East.

• Contribute to transport planning studies, including large‑scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies, and multi‑disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
• Independently lead TIS in Dubai, liaising and coordinating with various RTA departments as part of the TIS process.
• Apply knowledge of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.
• Leverage project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.
• Understand the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
• Execute traffic engineering and transport planning for large development projects.
• Prepare reports as per RTA requirements.
• Review and lead traffic analysis and the TIS process.
• Communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
• Learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
• Work with limited supervision.
• Apply some experience in project/financial management.
• Assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business and in selling Atkins services generally.

• Experience in traffic engineering, transport planning and modelling projects across the UAE.
• RTA‑approved Liaison Engineer.
• Experience with RTA TIS projects (Level 1 to
  3).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of UAE authority guidelines and manuals.
• Experience with traffic engineering software (SYNCHRO / SIDRA / HCS).
• Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Strong communication and personal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent – a must.
• Minimum 12‑15 years of experience in traffic modelling and transport planning.
• RTA TIS Guidelines experience.
• Registered RTA TIS Liaison Engineer.
• Proficiency in conducting large Traffic Impact Studies in the UAE.
• Team‑player mindset and ability to work without excessive supervision.
• Self‑checking and correction of work.
