Responsibilities
- Attend job kick‑off meetings and receive the engineering job file from the operations coordinator.
- Review and understand the job requirements (reviewing both engineering and sales files to establish correct input data).
- Discuss the job, design input and output requirements, relationships, concepts, and long‑lead material requirements with the Engineering Manager/Director.
- Finalize preliminary general drawings and load calculations and review them with the Engineering Manager/Director.
- Prepare BOQ'S, drawings, calculations, and other project‑related documents.
- Communicate with departments involved in the process to identify and search for optimal solutions to any related problems that may occur (design, materials, or production).
- Pre‑approve orders for materials as instructed by the Engineering Director and assist in the materials‑checking process when required by the Quality Inspector.
- Attend inspection and testing of products on level 2 and 3 projects.
- Provide technical assistance in discussions with customers and suppliers as required by the Engineering Director.
- Review completed jobs and submit a brief report to the Engineering Manager/Director.
- Incorporate changes and as‑built drawings for closed jobs into the CAD system.
- Attend engineering, design‑review, and production meetings as required.
- Give technical assistance to the sales/estimation departments as assigned by the Engineering Manager/Director.
- Assist the operations department with as‑built/construction specifications.
- Possesses a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Holds a minimum of four years of experience in automotive design, with a strong emphasis on Solid Works.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using Solid Works for 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and assembly design.
- Exhibits a solid understanding of automotive systems, including chassis, powertrain, and body structures.
- Shows a strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in design and manufacturing.
- Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrates strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex design issues and propose effective solutions.
- Has prior experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure automotive engineering environment.
- Displays a proactive approach to learning and staying current with the latest automotive technologies and design trends.
