Job Description
We are looking to recruit an experienced Drilling Manager – Land and Nearshore to join our team based in Dubai, UAE. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating offshore and onshore projects on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring timely preparation, smooth running and completion of project tasks along with technical and commercial requirements and scope of work. You will supervise a team and provide on‑the‑job training to team members.
Key Responsibilities- Formulate project execution strategy – plant & equipment requirement, drill rig set‑up and operational methodology along with the operations manager. Assist with production of drill string configurations, borehole plans and drilling fluid programs as required.
- Ensure maximum production and full utilisation of all equipment, tools, manpower and facilities involved with drilling operations. Reduce leakage through efficient operation.
- Serve as technical / drilling point of contact to onshore and nearshore field operations during project execution.
- Monitor market fluctuation and technical developments in all areas of third‑party supplied drilling equipment and drilling fluid.
- Be actively involved with procurement of drilling equipment and tooling, rigs, and extraneous drilling plant to ensure best value and budget compliance.
- Review project documents (DPRs & drill logs) to ensure compliance with correct drilling methodology and ensure daily targets are met to achieve maximum production throughout entire project lifecycle.
- Support mobilisation to site of drill rigs, small geotechnical platforms or small vessels and the crew.
- Take a lead role in design and implementation of competency assessment schemes for drill crew and supervisors.
- Carry out site visits to ensure drilling standards are maintained on the onshore and nearshore drill rigs.
- Support the production of project documentation, produce drilling method statements and procedures; provide input and assistance into the tendering process for pricing, drilling methodology and data collection.
- Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees.
- 8 years’ experience with various drilling techniques & equipment, diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, small boats and self‑elevated platforms, with 3 years in a management role.
