Job Title: Assistant Principal (Arabic & Islamic Leadership Team)
Start Date: August 2026
GEMS Al Barsha National School is seeking an experienced Assistant Principal to join the Arabic and Islamic leadership team. The role supports the vision, core values, mission, aims and policies of the school while ensuring the highest possible standards of teaching, learning, curriculum, student achievement and pastoral care.
Responsibilities- Represent the views and interests of the Arabic and wider Ministry of Education (MoE) subject teams with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lead school self‑review and SEF; oversee school development and improvement planning through strategic plans and the annual School Development Plan and associated phase action plans.
- Develop school policies, systems and procedures.
- Oversee annual whole‑school budgeting and reviews.
- Deploy staff and support staff development across the school.
- Contribute to school activities such as parent evenings, workshops ధర and community liaison.
- Communicate a clear strategic vision for outstanding teaching, learning and assessment and establish an effective action plan.
- Ensure the Arabic team delivers a broad, balanced, enriched and relevant curriculum with high standards of attainment, progress, attendance and behaviour.
- Develop and enhance classroom practice of all staff in the Arabic team across all curriculum areas; lead CPD programmes as required شعب.
- Ensure a stimulating environment for students through appropriate resources.
- Manage and coordinate the whole‑school Arabic assessment framework and calendar.
- Monitor and evaluate planning, teaching, learning, target‑setting, assessment and tracking; analyse assessment data and report according to the annual assessment cycle.
- Report on standards and progress in the Arabic team to the Senior Leadership Team, Local Advisory Board and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with senior and middle leaders to ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum within the Arabic team.
- Lead the development of effective curriculum links with GEMS network schools, community, external agencies, enhancing community cohesion policy.
- Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education and KHDA expectations and requirements in relation to Arabic subjects.
- Bachelor’s degree and a valid Teaching Licence.
- Accredited leadership qualification or enrolled in a leadership development course.
- Proven skills in change leadership and innovation.
- Commitment to promote and support the vision, values and ethos of the School.
- Evidence of significant and continuous professional development.
- Evidence of innovation leading to raised standards and improved staff motivation.
- Knowledge of competency‑led curriculum frameworks.
- Knowledge of what constitutes high quality educational provision and how to secure it within the school.
- Evidence of successful delivery against targets.
- Drive, enthusiasm, determination and boundless energy to improve students’ lives.
- Ability to generate high expectations and commitment from staff.
- Experience in leading careers and future skills education across the school.
- Experience coordinating parent partnerships and communication.
- Line management experience of Heads of Department.
GEMS Education Commitment: Safeguarding and welfare of all students and staff. A UK‑enhanced DBS or equivalent police check btc is a prerequisite for all appointments.
