As an English teacher, your responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering English courses, ensuring alignment with syllabus objectives.
Creating lesson plans and materials in advance, and submitting them to the Academic Manager for review.
Maintaining accurate records of lesson plans and student progress, organized alphabetically by students' first names.
Ensuring punctuality for lessons and breaks, and collecting student satisfaction forms on the second and last day of courses.
Providing individual and group sessions to improve students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Assessing and providing feedback on student work, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in short reports submitted to the Academic Manager.
Safeguarding juniors by following protocols, such as not leaving them unsupervised, keeping doors open during one-to-one sessions, and adhering to break and supervision duties.
Preventing unruly behavior and bullying in the classroom, and adhering to provided risk assessments.
Required EducationCandidates must possess a recognized TEFL/TESOL teaching certificate such as Cambridge/RSA CELTYL, CELTA, DELTA, Trinity Cert. TESOL, or Dip. TESOL, with a minimum of 100 hours of TEFL input and 6 hours of observed and assessed teaching practice. The course must be externally validated.
Essential Skills & AttributesClean DBS record, native English speaker, punctuality, attention to detail, classroom management, inclusive manner, excellent spoken and written English skills, clear diction, patience, lateral thinking, confidence, knowledge of child safeguarding.
Additional ResponsibilitiesTeaching English to elementary or secondary level students, either in classes or individually.
Developing curriculum tailored to the needs of adult and child learners.
Incorporating various teaching tools such as pronunciation techniques, quizzes, textbooks, videos, and computer lessons.
Integrating real-life language interactions into lessons, considering scenarios like shopping, schooling, job hunting, or workplace communication.
Understanding and respecting students' cultural backgrounds to facilitate their acclimation to an English-speaking environment.

Desirable qualifications include PGCE, PETYL, CETYL, or QTS.
First aid training, relevant teaching experience, willingness to attend social events.
