Job DescriptionThe Associate – Architecture, operating as a senior design professional under the general supervision of an Associate Director, the Associate leads an architectural team of approximately five staff members. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, and executing design work across projects of varying scales, with regular coordination and input from senior leadership.
The Associate – Architecture plays a key role in directing architectural teams, managing multidisciplinary coordination, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. Combining technical expertise, project leadership, and client engagement, the Associate drives design excellence, upholds quality standards, and contributes to the strategic growth of the practice.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Direct and coordinate internal design teams and external specialist consultants to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Make informed aesthetic design direction, material selection and technical decisions to resolve design interfaces and interdisciplinary challenges.
- Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with the Design Brief, company standards, industry guidelines, codes, interdisciplinary requirements and client expectations.
- Provide key design input during early project phases and maintain design leadership throughout all stages.
- Lead technical quality reviews of project deliverables and ensure adherence to quality, health and safety, and corporate standards.
- Manage the technical coordination of sub-consultants, including global delivery centers (EC), other offices, and external partners.
- Monitor and manage resource allocation, discipline budgets, and fee expenditure across all project stages, including change management.
- Contribute to cost planning, value engineering, and strategic project decisions.
- Foster a collaborative, creative, and high-performing team culture, promoting positive morale and interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Applies advanced technical expertise to manage complex projects, ensuring design integrity, budget control, and milestone achievement.
- Works independently, prioritizing tasks and developing solutions to complex issues while influencing internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads teams in producing high-quality deliverables, mentors junior staff, and maintains strong client relationships to support project success and future opportunities.
- Contributes to continuous improvement, process innovation, and compliance with design standards, codes, and best practices.
- Demonstrates leadership in thought, communication, and execution, supporting both project and organizational goals.
- Minimum of 9 years post-undergraduate experience.
- Bachelors in Architecture or Master in Architecture, or equivalent.
- RIBA Part 2 equivalent (RIBA, AIA or equivalent) preferred.
