The Features Editor is responsible for producing, commissioning and editing features across GQ Middle East’s print edition and digital platforms. Reporting to the Head of Editorial Content, this role will oversee long form storytelling across culture, lifestyle, fashion, grooming, entertainment, sport and business, ensuring GQ delivers compelling, agenda setting content that resonates with our audience.
This is a key editorial position that helps shape the tone and voice of the brand. The successful candidate will be an experienced writer and editor with strong industry connections and a deep understanding of the GQ reader in the Middle East.
Key Responsibilities- Working closely with the Head of Editorial Content and senior editorial leaders to generate, commission and edit original feature ideas across print and digital.
- Writing and editing long form features, profiles and interviews, from timely cultural commentary to in depth cover stories and exclusives.
- Identifying emerging trends, cultural shifts and key personalities that align with GQ’s authority in style, culture and modern masculinity.
- Collaborating with colleagues across GQ’s global network to surface international opportunities and contribute regional stories to the wider brand ecosystem.
- Representing GQ within the industry at events, launches, forums and, where required, regional and international showcases.
- Contributing to social, digital and video strategy, including ideation and talent proposals in collaboration with Condé Nast’s Talent Group and wider teams.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with PRs, brands, talent representatives and key cultural figures to secure exclusives and strengthen GQ’s positioning in the market.
- Partnering with commercial and revenue teams on special projects while maintaining editorial integrity.
- Staying informed on regional and global developments across culture, fashion, entertainment, sport and business to ensure coverage remains relevant, distinctive and authoritative.
- 7+ years’ experience at a digital or print publisher in a senior editorial role, with significant experience commissioning and editing features.
- A strong storytelling instinct, with a proven ability to shape compelling narratives that engage a sophisticated audience.
- Experience using analytics tools and applying SEO best practices to inform content strategy.
- A strong understanding of the Middle East market and a well established regional and international network of contacts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of seniority.
- Thorough knowledge of the GQ brand and its positioning within the global media landscape.
- Experience working with commercial teams on revenue generating editorial projects while upholding brand values.
