Safety Inspector- Civil Construction

The Safety Inspector – Civil Construction is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and reporting on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across civil construction activities. The role focuses on identifying unsafe acts and conditions, ensuring adherence to approved method statements and safety procedures, and supporting site teams in maintaining a safe working environment during civil works.
Key Responsibilities Site Inspections & Monitoring- Conduct routine and ad-hoc safety inspections of civil construction activities
- Monitor excavation, trenching, earthworks, formwork, rebar fixing, concreting, and roadworks
- Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with approved procedures
- Issue safety observations and follow up on corrective actions
- Check proper installation of shoring, slope protection, barricading, and access systems
- Monitor working-at-height controls, scaffolding, ladders, and fall protection systems
- Verify valid inspection certificates, operator licenses, and lifting plans
- Monitor safe lifting operations and adherence to lifting procedures
- Ensure correct use of PPE by workers and subcontractors
- Monitor housekeeping, material storage, and site access routes
- Support supervisors in maintaining safe work practices
- Immediately report accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences
- Assist in incident investigations and data collection
- Record safety observations, inspection findings, and corrective actions
- Coordinate with Safety Officers, site engineers, and supervisors
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site safety meetings
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- 2–4 years experience in civil construction safety inspection
- Knowledge of civil construction activities and hazards
- Strong observation and hazard identification skills
- Good communication and reporting abilities
- Ability to work independently on active construction sites
- Attention to detail and a safety-focused mindset
