Contracts Engineer

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate development agreements, consultancy agreements, construction contracts, subcontracts, and vendor/service agreements.
• Ensure all contracts comply with corporate policies, statutory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Manage pre-contract activities, including preparation of tender documentation, RFPs, contract conditions, clarifications, and bid evaluations.
• Monitor compliance with contractual terms, obligations, timelines, and milestones by all parties.
• Prepare tender and contract documents for construction works in accordance with project requirements.
• Liaise with legal, procurement/commercial, and project teams to ensure alignment of contract terms with project objectives.
• Safeguard the developer’s contractual rights and entitlements under FIDIC forms of contract and applicable local laws.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all contract documents, correspondence, variations, and amendments.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, claims-related communications, and responses to protect the developer’s interests.

Core Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of contract law and FIDIC 1999 and 2017 editions.
• High proficiency in contract drafting, interpretation, and negotiation.
• Ability to manage multiple contracts across several projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented approach.
• Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in contract management, including at least 5 years within the real estate development sector.
• Proven track record in managing both pre-contract and post-contract stages for large-scale mixed-use, residential, or commercial developments.
