Material Inspector

Dubai, UAE

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Inspect demolition of transportation facilities (roads, streets, bridges)
  • Inspect construction of roads, bridges, and other associated improvements (curb, gutter, street, sidewalk, landscaping)
  • Inspect drainage work, traffic control, compliance with SWPPP requirements
  • Inspect installation of electrical equipment related to traffic signals, ramp metering and street lighting
  • Inspect irrigation and planting, roadway and overhead sign removal and installation
  • Inspect installation on temporary and permanent signs and delineation
  • Inspect installation of mechanical equipment
  • Inspect building and facility construction and associated site development
  • Take project photographs on a daily basis and file them
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain office files related to the project, quantity calculations and write daily diaries
  • Prepare daily reports and other documentation as required by the contract
  • Verify that only approved materials are incorporated in the work
  • Perform labor compliance interviews and maintain as‑built plans
  • Recognize potential conflicts, issues and problems, and report to supervisor with proposed solution
  • Collect, review and file Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used
  • May provide technical guidance to lower‑level inspectors
  • Coordinate work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing
  • Participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports
  • Participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures
  • Report on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work
  • Respond to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site
  • May administer welder qualification tests
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
  • At least 3 years Diploma/Associate Degree in Civil Engineering/Geology or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience on road works, bridges and infrastructure projects
  • Have Dubai Central Laboratory Approval
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction related processes related to area of assignment
