Overview Of

The Role:

The Logistics Procurement Manager is responsible for leading strategic sourcing and supplier management of logistics services, including international and domestic transportation and warehousing, while aligning with business objectives to optimize costs and service levels. The role involves managing category strategies, tender processes, and contract management to achieve savings and service improvements. The manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align forecasts and integrate advanced technology for process improvement, while also mentoring a small team of sourcing managers.

What You Will Do:

Category Strategy and Management
  • Develop and update logistics category strategies encompassing transport, warehousing, last mile delivery, customs brokerage, and 3PL/4PL contracts.
  • Conduct scenario planning and total cost of ownership analyses, leveraging index-based pricing and fuel surcharge governance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, Incoterms 2020, trade regulations, and data privacy.
  • Deliver complex RFPs and manage network changes timely with cross‑functional coordination.
Partnership and Alignment
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to align forecasts and demands, optimizing network distribution and mode mix.
  • Define sourcing waves and maintain a project pipeline aligned with business needs.
  • Optimize Incoterms, load consolidation, and routing guides to enhance efficiency and reduce cost.
Source to Contract (S2C)
  • Manage market scans, RFI/RFP/e‑Auctions, evaluations, and negotiations; standardize MSAs and SLAs.
  • Establish and govern supplier relationships with QBRs and performance scorecards for strategic partnerships.
  • Innovate in performance and sustainability metrics, including CO2 per shipment and packaging optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Align specifications, SLAs, and budgets with Business Units, Finance, and Operations leveraging data insights.
  • Establish cross‑functional Steering Committees for major logistics projects to drive decisions.
  • Deliver market intelligence on trends affecting logistics decisions.
Technology and Data Management
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate TMS/WMS systems and automate KPI dashboards for logistics operations.
  • Ensure clean data management regarding lanes, rate cards, and surcharges; maintain contract repositories.
Team Development
  • Coach and develop the team in sourcing, analytics, and contract management, ensuring robust succession and learning plans.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
  • Proficiency in category strategy development and should cost modeling for logistics.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract drafting and supplier relationship management.
  • Advanced data analysis and financial acumen, including TCO and benchmarking skills.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive strategic operational changes effectively.
What Qualifies You For

The Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • CIPS certification or equivalent is highly desirable; APICS CSCP/CLTD or similar are advantageous.
  • 7-10 years of experience in procurement focusing on logistics categories, including transportation and warehousing management.
