Assistant Accountant

Role Overview

The Assistant Accountant at Thrifty Car Rental will support the Accounts Department in processing refunds, reconciling receipts, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations. This role ensures smooth financial workflows, timely reporting, and effective coordination with clients and internal teams.

• Process refunds including cash refunds, online cancellations, early off-hire, debit card deposits, and personal lease refunds.
• Respond to client emails regarding refunds and pre-authorization (pre-auth) queries.
• Assist Customer Service Advisors (CSA) and Customer Care teams with financial inquiries.
• Maintain and update the Refund Tracker, including refund notes and reference numbers.

• Record online cancellation entries in the JD system.
• Reconcile AMEX receipts, NI receipts, and Points Pay receipts.
• Confirm and verify refund receipts.
• Handle NI escalations, including following up on pre-authorizations for outstanding reports submitted by Area Managers.

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
• Knowledge of refund processes, reconciliations, and accounting systems.
• Experience in an automotive or start-up environment is advantageous.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
