Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with strong expertise in deep foundations and heavy civil infrastructure. This hybrid position blends estimating responsibilities with hands‑on project execution support, providing involvement from the bid phase through final project delivery.
Projects typically include small‑to‑mid‑sized civil assignments such as deep foundations (pile and shoring systems), transportation improvements, culverts, light rail components, small bridges, and select industrial scopes. Most projects are short‑term and may require periodic travel to remote job sites for coordination and oversight.
Requirements:
- Maintain up‑to‑date vendor pricing and accurate cost documentation.
- Participate in pre‑bid meetings and contribute to proposal preparation.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to define scope and prepare competitive cost estimates.
- Perform detailed quantity take‑offs and develop comprehensive labor, equipment, and material cost analyses.
- Coordinate subcontractors and assist with contract administration and claims management.
- Assist with project start‑up documentation and help maintain strong contractor performance ratings.
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend cost‑effective engineering solutions.
- Support field operations with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control.
Cost Tracking & Project Controls
- Track and monitor project costs on a weekly basis using project management and accounting systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support forecasting, reporting, and project closeout.
Qualifications/Must‑Haves:
- Deep Foundations & Shoring Systems.
- Contract Administration & Change Management.
- Subcontractor Coordination & Project Documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5–7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including deep foundations, pile and shoring, heavy highway, light rail, or industrial projects.
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer supporting civil infrastructure or deep foundation work.
- Strong understanding of field construction practices and estimating principles.
- Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and project management software platforms.
- Solid mathematical and analytical skills (geometry, ratios, take‑offs, cost calculations)
- Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies, clients, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
Preferred
Skills:
- Ability and willingness to travel as project needs require.
- Direct hands‑on experience with deep foundation systems.
- Background in cost engineering within competitive bid environments.
