Mainframe IT Production Support

This is a Mainframe IT Production Support / Operations role focused on keeping business-critical batch jobs and applications running 24/7 in a mainframe + midrange environment

Think of this person as the backbone operator and first-line support for production systems.

In practical terms, this person will:

• Create, schedule, submit, hold, cancel, and monitor batch jobs using Control-M
• Ensure jobs run on time and fix failures when they don’t
• Work with JCL, PROCs, and Control Statements
• Promote COBOL programs and related components using Endevor
• Move source code, JCL, and packages between environments
• Sometimes pair with developers for learning and knowledge transfer

🔹 Act as first responder for incidents

• Monitor systems and consoles
• Respond to alerts, operator messages, and system issues
• Log, update, and close incident tickets ("Cherwell or similar tools")
• Coordinate with other IT teams when issues elevate

🔹 Perform data center / operations tasks

• Operate mainframe consoles and I/O devices
• Assign devices and manage job execution per schedules
• Run tasks according to strict operational standards and procedures
• Handle high-volume printing (MICR printer experience is a plus)

🔹 Work in a true 24/7 environment

• Rotating shifts (day / swing / overnight)
