Position: Autism Support Technician (Behavior Tech)

Job Overview

Autism Support Technician (Behavior Tech) – Entry‑Level – also known as a Behavior Technician. Join Holding Hands Pediatric Therapy & Adult Services as part of our ABA – Behavioral Support Department in Downey, CA.

We’re looking for passionate individuals who want to make a difference for people with autism and other developmental disabilities. The role involves one‑on‑one support in homes, schools, or clinics using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Location & Compensation

Downey, CA (sessions may also be completed at client homes or community locations within 20 miles/30 minutes of your home).

Hourly rate $22.00 – $28.00, depending on experience and education.

Schedule

Part‑time: 15‑25+ hours per week. Block schedule options include:

  • Monday – Friday 3 pm – 8 pm
  • Monday – Friday 3 pm – 6 pm
  • Monday – Friday 5 pm – 8 pm
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3 pm – 8 pm
Responsibilities

As a Behavior Technician, you will support children and teens in developing skills and reducing challenging behaviors. Your day will involve:

  • Working one‑on‑one with clients with autism and other developmental needs
  • Following a personalized therapy plan created by our clinical team
  • Using play, routines, and activities to facilitate growth
  • Tracking progress through notes and behavior recordings
  • Encouraging independence and building everyday life skills
  • Celebrating successes, both big and small
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (paid or unpaid)
  • Ability to lift at least 10 pounds, and sit and run as needed
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and active auto insurance
  • Comfortable commuting 20 miles or 30 minutes to client sessions
  • Passion for working with children, youth, and young adults with developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • ABA experience or RBT certification
  • CPR certification (pediatrics and adults)
  • Experience managing a range of maladaptive behaviors (non‑compliance, elopement, verbal/physical aggression, self‑injurious behaviors, etc.)
