Pay Range: $40.30 - $60.45
Major Responsibilities- Coordination and implementation of strategies to ensure quality, efficacy, and cost effectiveness for the oncology patients in multiple settings.
- Assess patient needs.
- Orientate patient to the hospital and outpatient settings as well as the organization.
- Deliver cancer care across the continuum, from diagnosis through treatment, including transition to survivorship and end‑of‑life care.
- Using the nursing process, provide patient and family insight with appropriate education and resources to facilitate informed decision‑making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care during all phases of the cancer continuum.
- Critically think and clinically assess patients, providing support and education while managing the complexity of the cancer diagnosis.
- Communicate and collaborate with all multidisciplinary team members.
- Review distress screening for referrals, communication and physician partnership.
- Communicate and collaborate with the treating physician.
- Receive and respond to new patient referrals.
- Reinforce education regarding diagnosis.
- Connect patients to appropriate and requested resources.
- Develop and report outcome metrics to drive program development.
- Assess and implement activities that support the standards related to Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
- Review and strategize activities that support the community needs assessment of site‑specific results.
- Provide emotional support for patients.
- Advocate on behalf of the patient.
- Empower the patient to self‑advocate.
- Maintain own knowledge, ability, skills, competencies and continue to role‑model organizational behaviors of excellence.
- Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) with current Illinois RN license. - BSN required (effective 10/1/16).
- Minimum 5+ years of clinical specialty experience in Oncology.
- CPR certification.
- OCN Certification or Nurse Navigator Certification obtained within 2 years of hire (if not already certified).
- Global perspective of changing healthcare environment.

- Basic computer skills.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexible hours according to customer needs.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient‑focused care.
- Prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and life‑threatening diseases.
- Perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs.).
- Travel to visit physicians and other practices within the region.
- Recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
- Lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance; use patient handling equipment for heavier lifts.
