Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Litigation or his/her designee, the individual selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the Legal Department in the defense of medical malpractice suits.
Major Responsibilities:
- Day to day workup of medical legal matters on behalf of physicians and organization.
- Assist in Court appearances for case management conferences, motion practice and trial.
- Prepare motions to dismiss, dispositive motions and other legal briefs in support of client.
- Manage discovery written and oral, including depositions.
- Trial work, including motion in limine practice, voire dire, opening statements, questioning witnesses and closing statements.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Level of Education
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited college of law required.
- Must be licensed in the state of Illinois.
Years of Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of legal experience.
Describe Type of Experience
- Legal research and writing on medical malpractice law matters.
- Extensive experience in the Courtroom desired.

- Excellent business judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work both independently/autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization

- Ability to generate ideas and solutions cross functionally within the organization.
- Work effectively with team members to accomplish objectives and goals.
- Ability to devise creative practical solutions to difficult legal issues.
- Strong analytical capability combined with superior strategic thinking.
The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $125K-$188K, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
