Job Title: Comptroller

Reports to: Board of Directors/Owners

Job Summary

The Comptroller is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations for affiliated entities across multiple locations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable healthcare and regulatory requirements, while supporting multi-entity financial management.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (required). CPA or CMA strongly preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience in healthcare, hospice, or multi-site organizations preferred. Strong knowledge of multi-entity accounting. Experience with Quick Books and Microsoft products is required.

Skills: Strong understanding of healthcare finance and reimbursement models. Proven ability to manage multi-entity financial structures. Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. High attention to detail. Clear and professional communication skills.

Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance. Current driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

Works in a routine office environment. Noise level may be moderately high, the ability to work a flexible schedule and extended hours to meet deadlines. The ability to travel locally and some exposure to inclement weather. Possible exposure to toxic materials, toner, etc. Requires the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations for affiliated entities across multiple sites.
  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain consistency in accounting practices across multiple entities and locations.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and allocations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of cost reports, audits, and external financial reviews.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Support and collaborate with accounting staff and/or external accounting partners.
  • Collaborate with operations, revenue cycle, HR, and leadership teams to resolve financial issues.
  • Support financial reporting for ownership as needed.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by ownership.
