Chicago, IL. The Superintendent – Service/Repair will assist with service and repair operations to ensure the departments run efficiently and cost‑effectively.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Visit job sites and conduct quality audits to ensure route work is completed efficiently and cost‑effectively.
- Perform NIM job audits within 15 days of construction and modernization turnovers, identifying issues that could affect overall equipment reliability and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Assist mechanics with jobs, including troubleshooting and on‑the‑job training.
- Use accounting reports to review route profitability and callbacks; provide data and reports to management.
- Offer technical input to sales staff on scope of work and material requirements for repair bids, including labor and material cost calculations.
- Provide feedback to the service manager prior to field evaluations and performance ratings.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all federal, state, and local elevator industry code requirements.
- Stay current on company products through training classes, factory equipment updates, and supplier goods; collaborate with regional field trainers.
- Determine required repair materials and place orders for parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of the construction industry and general management skills; or general business knowledge normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree; or two years of experience managing at a branch departmental level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to write reports, contract proposals, and business correspondence.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from management and customers.
- Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Salary range: $92,000 – $131,000 (subject to eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents).
