Senior Environment Health Safety Specialist

Arrowhead is assisting a manufacturing company fill an Environmental Health and Safety role in the Downers Grove, IL area.

As the on-site Sr. EHS Specialist for the manufacturing site, some responsibilities will include:

• Lead plant initiatives to achieve Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) goals and ensure compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate all significant EHS incidents using root cause analysis; implement and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Analyze and improve EHS management systems, developing processes that eliminate risks at the source and maintain required compliance systems, permits, and documentation (air, stormwater, surface water, etc.).
• Manage the plant’s safety programs, including Precaution Based Safety (PBS), injury and near-miss reporting, ergonomic risk assessments, and maintenance of OSHA and regulatory injury/medical records.
• Provide EHS leadership for new projects, expansions, and process changes to ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Partner with Operations, HR, Engineering, Quality, and IT to support safe production practices, site security, loss prevention, and overall risk reduction.
• Lead and support safety training programs, including new hire onboarding, role-based training, OJT documentation, and tracking of corporate and plant training records.
• Monitor equipment safety ratings, safety-related calibration, operational safety metrics, and support reporting and performance analysis.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience working in plant environment
• Minimum of 5 years experience with OSHA, Safety & EHS Reporting Compliance
• Proven competency in root cause problem solving techniques
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, verbal & written – to different audiences
