Position SummaryThe CDMI curriculum comprises integrated oral health and basic science courses and modules emphasizing knowledge, skills, and values in clinical areas and disciplines (e.g., Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Periodontics, etc.), as required for pre-doctoral education in general comprehensive dentistry.
The Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for instruction and support of the CDMI curriculum, including teaching in various settings and demonstrating clinical care, as well as facilitating electronic media use.
Reporting RelationshipIn the Preclinical program, reports to the Associate Dean, Preclinical Education. In patient care, reports to the Clinical Program Director.
Working RelationshipsInteracts with Course and Module Coordinators, Program Directors, Support Staff, and faculty in related disciplines.
Essential Job Functions- Assist with development and organization of coursework and exercises.
- Engage in course delivery and maintain a positive university image.
- Participate in student assessment and calibration of methodologies.
- Contribute to clinical operations and manage faculty schedules.
- Engage in scholarly activities as appropriate.
- Manage clinical situations based on best practices and protocols.
- Ensure evidence-based, timely, and safe patient care.
- Maintain patient records and follow safety policies.
- Participate in quality improvement programs.
- Proficient clinical skills in general dentistry.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patient-centered and student-focused approach.
- Cultural competence and collegiality.
- Time management, receptiveness to feedback, patience, and basic computer skills.
Must possess DDS/DMD or equivalent, be licensed or eligible for licensure in Illinois, with at least 3 years of practice or 1 year postgraduate training. Preference for candidates with teaching and technology experience.
Computer SkillsProficiency in MS Office, ability to learn axiUm EHR.
Language SkillsAbility to interpret professional and regulatory documents, communicate professionally.
Physical DemandsAbility to stand, walk, reach, sit, and lift up to 25 pounds, with vision requirements.
Performance EvaluationAnnual review based on institutional standards.
