IT Project Manager
Eastman Credit Union is seeking a Director of Information Technology.
This role serves as a senior leadership executive in charge of I/T operations, responsible for the design, development, release, and maintenance of all enterprise technology systems, applications, and services. The position reports to the Chief Information Officer and is onsite in our corporate office in Kingsport, TN.
Other key duties include technology and strategic planning, vendor management, service management, change management, financial management, project management, disaster recovery, information security operations, and workforce management.
This person will bring a diversified technical management background, proven success managing I/T with a service‑oriented approach, and a sustained history of leading people.
Responsibilities- Oversee I/T teams that perform daily operational support and maintenance of all I/T systems – including third‑party and internally managed applications.
- Execute the annual I/T strategic plan and assist in developing I/T strategies aligned with ECU’s priorities.
- Manage the I/T change management process to minimize operational impact and ensure due diligence.
- Maintain a robust I/T disaster recovery and business continuity solution with annual testing.
- Facilitate effective communication across I/T and with business units.
- Promote a culture of information security awareness and support the Manager of Information Security in remediation efforts.
- Direct financial aspects of I/T operations, including budgeting, technology proposals, and cost management.
- Oversee I/T vendor management responsibilities.
- Stay current with new technologies and platforms relevant to the credit union industry.
- Implement best practices for optimizing application and infrastructure cost, improving system performance, and meeting service level requirements.
- Develop and maintain enterprise technology standards, governance processes, policies, and performance metrics.
- Handle I/T responsibilities related to internal and external audits and examinations.
- Serve as an effective risk and compliance manager in accordance with ECU, industry, and regulatory requirements.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Ten or more years of I/T experience.
- Five or more years of progressive I/T leadership responsibilities; senior management experience preferred.
- Extensive experience managing complex technology environments requiring 24/7 support.
- Strong business acumen and business planning skills.
- Expertise in budget planning, financial management, and resource management.
- Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies and strategic application to business needs.
- Exceptional multi‑tasking and project management skills, including deploying resources and managing multiple projects across a cross‑functional environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms and persuade others.
- Ability to continuously improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and information management across all lines of business and technology platforms.
