Automation Technician Off Shift

Job Summary

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for 2 Automation Techs to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey.

The role involves programming various brands of robots and related automated equipment, modifying and maintaining existing programs, and creating new programs. Additionally, you will maintain robotic arms, controllers, end‑of‑arm tools, conveyors, parts orienteers, and use power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments while following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.

Work hours are on an off shift. One opening is on 2nd shift (1400‑2230 PM) and another on 3rd shift (2200‑0630 AM). Day‑shift training (Monday‑Friday, 6:00‑2:30 PM) will occur for several months. An hourly “shift premium” is paid while assigned to an off‑shift.

Pay range: $28.00‑$31.00 per hour (determined by experience, education, certifications, etc.).

• Assist in implementing Howmet Aerospace’s EHS values and policy statement.
• Comply with all department, facility, corporate, and regulatory EH&S regulations.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Report all job‑related illnesses and injuries (per employee handbook).
• Report all safety, health, and environmental concerns to your supervisor timely.
• Attend all EH&S training.

• Provide manufacturing support for robotic finishing and manufacturing equipment.
• Review manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks; understand robot inputs/outputs and the binary system.
• Maintain and improve reliability and productivity of robotic equipment.
• Program and document code for manufacturing robots.
• Act as SPA leader for robotic equipment and process operations.
• Document automation processes throughout the life cycle.
• Participate in any quality audits pertaining to automation.

• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Can work flexible hours, including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.

• Understanding of robotic arms, controllers, end‑of‑arm tools, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of various controllers and robots.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification required; no visa sponsorship available.
• Position involves access to export‑controlled items; applicant must be able to obtain lawful access.
• Associate degree and technical training.

• 3–5 years of related job experience.
• Training in Yaskawa/Motorman or Fanuc robot programming.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Panel building and machine wiring experience.
• Schematic and blueprint reading experience.
• Understanding of robotic arms, controllers, end‑of‑arm tools, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of various controllers and robots.
