Howmet Dover Casting is a world-class supplier of complex, investment-cast turbine airfoils and other components for the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries.

Howmet Dover Alloy is a world-class supplier of vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and other high-technology industrial markets.

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for a Level III Trainee (FPI) to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this position are Day Shift.

Anticipated Pay Range: $28-$35 per hour.
* Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

Position Overview

The Level III Trainee position ensures availability of trained personnel for the primary Level III position if needed. If a Level III departure occurs, the Level III Trainee must be positioned to assume the primary Level III position. These roles involve methods including crystal/etch, visual/UT, fluorescent penetrant, and radiography (film & DR).

The Level III Trainee will split time between assisting the Level III with audits, technique creation and other listed technical functions, and performing production duties. A training plan will bridge to Secondary Level III certification, specifying the split between Level III tasks and production. After training, Secondary Level III must complete certification per BOP  and pass the company’s Level III examination.

Post-certification, the Secondary Level III will continue to split time between Level III tasks and production, gaining experience with the primary Level III as part of succession planning.

This position may require overtime to meet customer and production requirements.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing Howmet EHS values and policy statement
  • Comply with department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S regulations
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Report all job-related illnesses and injuries (per employee handbook)
  • Report safety, health & environmental concerns to supervisor promptly
  • Attend all EH&S training
Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in internal, external, and customer audits
  • Assist in training and monitoring proficiency of Level I and II NDT inspectors (OJT and Technical)
  • Assist in performing L1 and L2 audits for product conformity and process understanding (may require overtime or off-shift work)
  • Ensure NDT processes for product criteria are met
  • Ensure NDT inspections for product criteria are met
  • Perform daily systems checks of the responsible department
  • Monitor equipment availability and maintain equipment, fixtures, and tools
  • Under guidance of the primary Level III, develop and maintain procedures to ensure adherence to industry and customer requirements
  • Maintain required documentation and records for the method
  • Interpret specifications and blueprints under guidance of the primary Level III
  • Complete Secondary Level III training per plan developed by Quality Manager and Level III
