Summary
:
Resident Care Associate shall provide for the needs of the elders, including personal care, therapeutic programming, safety and emotional support in a manner that supports the dignity, independence, choice and individuality of each resident. The duties of Resident Care Associate include delivery of services as written on the approved service plan for each resident.

Responsibilities
  • Promote the mission and core values of The Residence at Silver Square and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, coworkers and the surrounding community.
  • Have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals.
  • Complete the community's and state orientation training program before assuming regular duties.
  • Assist residents with medications according to state regulation and LCB policies, document entries at appropriate times, and notify the nurse about self-administered medications as required by state regulations.
  • Actively engage residents in meaningful interactions and experiences; provide assistance, encouragement, and restorative interventions to maximize independence in activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, dining, mobility) and engage in group and individual activities.
  • Monitor changes in resident needs, preferences and health status; report and document changes to the RN or designee promptly.
  • Assist residents with clothing and laundry needs per the service plan.
  • Assist residents in going to bed at night when necessary.
  • Assist residents in keeping their units neat, clean and orderly.
  • Answer emergency calls and attend to residents' needs promptly.
  • Participate in regular ongoing in-service training programs; participate in specialized staff training and mandatory education requirements dictated by state regulation upon request.
  • Escort residents to meals and engagement as needed or directed.
  • Document scheduled and unscheduled services, incidents, behaviors and unusual events; input information into the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents.
  • Conduct and facilitate programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interactions, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity and spiritual connection.
  • Other duties as requested.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
: (These qualifications meet or exceed NH, MA, CT and RI state-specific requirements.)

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to use computer for documenting services provided. Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • Education: Must have completed the course for certified nursing assistant or have equivalent training or experience as required by state regulation, and CPR and First Aid training as mandated by the state employed.
  • Experience: Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training preferred. Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia is preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Current license/certification as required by state regulation and provide copies of documentation to the Resident Care Director or designee.

    Skills:

    Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including word processing or ability to learn data input.
