Job Summary

Responsibilities- Under general supervision, safely perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies using a magnetic resonance imaging system. Prepare patients, position, set imaging parameters, acquire images, perform computer processing, and display images. Select appropriate imaging protocols for patient studies and perform quality assurance scans as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department and consult appropriate content experts as needed (e.g., radiologist, nurse, child life specialist).
- Rotate to MRI scanners across the assigned department as needed and be available to work occasional overnight shifts and holidays, as deemed necessary by the department (per-diem technologists exempt).
Education
Other Certificate/Diploma in Medical Imaging required or Associate's Degree in Medical Imaging preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Magnetic Resonance Imaging [R.T.(MR)(ARRT)] - ARRT preferred; MRI Technologist - ARMRIT preferred
Experience
1-2 years of MRI Technologist experience required
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and perform quality control procedures where appropriate.
- Ability to transfer patients to the MRI scan table and push the table from prep to exam room; must lift and transfer patients to stretchers.
- Ability to provide appropriate care to various age populations; may oversee students and may work with lab animals for research purposes.
- Maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.).
- Uses departmental tools to confirm contrast dosing and patient safety (EMR MRI search engine, electronic dose calculators, PACS, etc.).
- Collaborates with MRI leadership to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient scanner utilization; maintains good relationships with department staff and hospital personnel.
