This posting is for a full-time, Media and Information Specialist position for the Caesar Rodney School District. This is an 11-month position.
OverviewUnder the leadership of the Superintendent of Schools, the Media and Information Specialist will support the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy for the Caesar Rodney School District. This role focuses on sharing the District's story in a positive, engaging, and consistent way across schools and throughout the community. The ideal candidate is a collaborative communicator who enjoys highlighting student and staff achievements and building strong relationships with schools, families, community members, and media partners.
The Media and Information Specialist will help ensure clear and effective communication with District stakeholders and will share information publicly (social media and District website) in order to ensure the District's greater community remain informed of District information and updates. The position will support and manage the District website, social media platforms, and other communication tools.
- Support and promote the District's external communications strategy, highlighting events, programs, awards, and recognitions.
- Identify opportunities to share positive stories about the District through media and social media channels.
- Partner with schools across the District to showcase student and staff programs and achievements.
- Assist with the development of proactive and responsive messaging aligned with the District's vision and brand.
- Coordinate the CR Report publication, including writing and organizing stories and supporting distribution.
- Develop social media content to promote District programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
- Create certificates, recognitions, and other written materials to celebrate accomplishments.
- Provide photographic support at District and school events and assist with maintaining organized digital archives.
- Support the production of audio, visual, and digital materials as needed.
- Attend School and District events as directed by the Superintendent.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Experience in communications, marketing, media relations, education, or a related area is preferred but not required.
- Experience or interest in creating written and digital communications, including social media content, presentations, newsletters, or websites.
- Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, website management, digital photography, or related tools is helpful.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Salary: In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules, based on experience and degree. Benefits package included.
Pre-employment Requirements- Individuals must provide official transcripts (if applicable), updated resume, and three (3) letters of recommendation.
- All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
