About FynancrFynancr is a U.S.
-based fintech startup on a mission to protect people and back banks.
We help borrowers avoid default through Recovery Mode™ a lender-integrated solution that gives users breathing room before missed payments escalates into collections or charge-offs.
We’re building fintech infrastructure, not a consumer app. That means compliance, clarity, and trust matter as much as speed.
We’re looking for a founding-level Fintech UX Designer with strong systems thinking and real-world fintech exposure to elevate our product UX as we move from Alpha to Beta.
You’ll own and shape the end-to-end user experience across borrower onboarding, authentication, disclosures, and recovery flows.
This is not a branding role and not a pure engineering role.
You’ll work at the intersection of UX, fintech regulation, and technical reality, ensuring complex logic feels simple, calm, and trustworthy to users.
You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and compliance to ensure what we design can actually be built and scaled.
What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)- Own UX design for key borrower journeys: onboarding, hardship intake, Recovery Mode™, and resolution flows
- Translate complex financial, technical, and compliance requirements into clear, intuitive UX
- Design for high-stress moments (financial hardship, disclosures, consent) without manipulation or dark patterns
- Create and maintain consistent UI standards (layout, typography, contrast, states)
- Produce implementation-ready designs in Figma (or equivalent)
- Collaborate closely with engineers working in React, AWS, and server‑less environments
- Design reusable components and flow logic — not one‑off screens
- Identify UX friction points and propose pragmatic improvements
- Support UX QA before releases to ensure consistency across screens and states
- 4-6+ years of UX design experience, ideally in fintech or other regulated products
- Strong visual/UI design skills with a clear sense of hierarchy, clarity, and consistency
- Proven experience designing complex user flows, not just marketing pages
- Comfortable working in early‑stage environments with ambiguity and speed
- Able to balance empathy with precision especially in financial contexts
- Strong written and spoken English
- Experience designing for the U.S. market
- UX‑first mindset with demonstrated fintech or complex‑system experience
- Working knowledge of React (to design buildable components and flows)
- Familiarity with AWS‑based, cloud‑native products
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and understand technical constraints
- Experience designing within compliance‑heavy environments
- Interaction Design (IxD) expertise (states, transitions, error handling, edge cases)
- Experience with server‑less architectures
- Exposure to Go (Golang)‑based systems
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Ability to contribute beyond design (UX copy, light product thinking, UX QA)
- 0.25% – 1.0% equity, depending on experience, scope, and commitment
- Cash compensation introduced post‑funding
- Clear growth path into Lead / Head of UX as the company scales
- Founder‑level impact on a core fintech infrastructure product
- Direct influence on borrower trust, lender credibility, and regulatory UX
- Build a category‑defining product in default prevention and recovery
- Work with a lean, execution‑focused founding team
- Shape how financial recovery actually feels for users
