Lead the hospital’s inpatient Social Services Department, including personnel management, departmental growth and development, regulatory compliance, and patient treatment and satisfaction.

Serve as a member of the Management Team and provide a clinical perspective to the facility’s goals and objectives.

Ensure the department remains survey‑ready for regulatory reviews, including The Joint Commission.

Partner closely with the Outpatient Program Managers and the Nursing Department to ensure patients receive appropriate services.

Conduct psychosocial assessments to document patient history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members.

Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans, ensuring that concise, realistic care plans are carried out.

Provide individual, group, and family process‑oriented therapies and conduct didactic groups using various professional treatment modalities.

Document treatment provided to the patient in the medical record legibly and in a timely manner.

Develop and coordinate an individualized discharge plan using the treatment team and chart information to determine after‑care needs. Identify and assess family or community resources such as group homes or mental health practitioners.

Serve as fiscal manager for the department by managing FTEs and overseeing scheduling and timekeeping.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as Administrator On Call.
  • Report all accidents immediately and provide effective corrective action.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit Service Excellence and support facility customer service standards.
Staff Development Requirements

Employee will participate in General Hospital Orientation and Department/Job Orientation, including competencies for this position. Handle With Care training is required. Attend all hospital safety trainings. Every year, employees must participate in Dover Behavioral Health System’s annual staff requirements, including testing for Tuberculosis. Attend all mandatory in‑services and participate in activities that enhance professional growth. Employees will receive performance appraisals/evaluations after 90 days and then annually.

and Mental Requirements of Job

Able to stop, crouch, reach, walk, and stand for sustained periods; use extremities to press, pull, draw, drag, haul, or tug with steady force; lift objects; exchange ideas via spoken or written work; make fine discriminations in sound with no less than a 40 lb loss at 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz; move wrist, hands, and fingers in repetitive motion.

Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs occasionally, 10 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Visual Acuity

Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, accounting, transcription, reading, and visual inspections.

Physical Surroundings

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Emotional or Mental Stress

Must work with several distractions, including light conversations. Respond immediately in crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members. May be subjected to routine travel; most work occurs in typical hospital conditions.

Qualifications
  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW).
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure required within one year of acceptance.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical leadership, preferably in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
  • Knowledge of state regulatory requirements and Joint Commission Standards preferred.
  • Solid understanding of community resources.
  • Ability to work with difficult populations diagnosed with mental illness.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Employee must obtain CPR, Handle with Care, and Verbal De‑Escalation certifications.
