Sports Medicine Orthopedic Physician

- Current orthopedic practice seeking to add a sports surgeon to support our growing practice
- Current subspecialty trained physicians include arthroplasty, trauma, hand, and foot and ankle
- Reasonable general trauma call requirements shared amongst the group
- Substantial PA support
Responsibilities
Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner.Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests and provide appropriate referral or consultation.Perform patient education and counselling to promote wellness. Consistently address and provide resources for health risk behaviours.Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (e.g., ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.Maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialed to perform.Use appropriate pharmacological dispensing consistent with patient age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions and duration of therapy, ensuring quality of care in dispensing both narcotic and non-narcotic medications.Maintain an updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required continuing medical education (CME) and appropriate Board certification.All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.Participates in departmental, organizational, and/or community committees/activities as appropriate.Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.Supports and practices the Bayhealth Physician Medical Staff Credo.Contributes to medical knowledge by synthesizing new research and medical knowledge and uses appropriately to improve healthcare practice.Participates in and supports the integrated continuum of care of patients within Bayhealth to enhance the quality of care.Embraces a sense of community and commitment to partnership, standards of performance and increasing patient referrals among members of the medical staff.Have collegial and collaborative relationships with colleagues and staff.Attend quarterly Bayhealth Medical Staff Meetings; practice meetings; and other meetings as requested by the leadership team.Embrace and support Bayhealth strategy and initiatives.Other duties as assigned by leadership.Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience
- Education:
Doctor of Medicine;
Completed Residency. BC/BE per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws. - Credential(s):
Physician - Controlled Substance Registration;
Physician MD; DEA Diversion Control Division; or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure.
