Position: Radiation Oncologist (Physician)

Status: Full Time 80 Hours

General

Summary:


The Radiation Oncologist is responsible for providing care and medical oversight of patients with malignant diseases. The Radiation Oncologist uses interpersonal skills to collaborate with other medical staff to assure quality services are provided and represents Bayhealth Oncology Service Line to medical staff and the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oncology services using evidence based and substantiated guidelines in a timely manner. Completes all related documentation following Bayhealth policy.
  • Meets with newly diagnosed cancer patient to collaborate on treatment process. Educates the patient and family regarding the disease process, diagnostic procedure, tests, labs, and goals of the treatment regimens.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team (surgery, hematology-oncology, radiology, and pathology) on patient’s plan of care.
  • Collects relevant patient healthcare data, analyzes data in determining patient needs.
  • Participates in Bayhealth’s Clinical Research Program to recommend potential clinical research studies for enrollment on-site or refer to appropriate tertiary setting.
  • Communicates with Oncology Administration related to established workflows within the department to improve performance.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and

Experience:

  • Education:

    Doctor of Medicine;
    Must also have completed 1 year of recognized internal medicine residency program or equivalent and 4 years of Radiation Oncology Residency.
  • Credential(s):
    Physician MD;
    Physician - Controlled Substance Registration; DEA Diversion Control Division;
    Eligible to become an active member of Bayhealth Med Staff.
  • Experience:

    No experience necessary. Board eligible in radiation oncology.
