My client delivers specialist engineering services to the UK’s transport network across aviation, rail and adjacent markets. Their vision is to be the leading provider of essential infrastructure services to the transport sector in the UK
They are currently recruiting for the post of Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Defence and Strategic projects division based in Dover.
They are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead and manage the commercial elements of their key projects within the Defence and Strategic markets.
- Lead and manage complex civil engineering projects within the Defence and Strategic markets, from initiation through to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements, particularly those specific to Defence and Strategic sectors.
- Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee procurement processes and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and present updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
- Excellent NEC knowledge
- Good communication and written skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Strong understanding of construction and contract law
- Day to commercial administration of the framework
- Preparing and issuing sub-contract orders
- Agreeing payment schedule with sub-contractors
- Managing Commercial change control for individual jobs delivered on the framework
- Prepare monthly application to the client
- Pricing individual jobs from the contract schedule of rates
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder engagements
