Personal Assistant Vacancy

Job Purpose:

To support my child typically outside of the home and socially within the community. Will typically involve going for walks, to parks familiar to him, with occasional opportunities to take him for dinner, shopping, etc.

• Being flexible to adapt to his preferences and recognizing cues (e.g., wanting to leave the park or allowing him to lead the way on a walk with no obvious destination).
• Supporting him both inside and outside the home and helping him transition between settings.
• Helping him to develop social skills.
• Being responsible for his personal care needs (e.g., changing incontinence pants, helping him clean up after meals, assisting with changing clothing when required).

• Establishing and maintaining effective communication with the child and his parents, maintaining confidentiality. Following his cues for wants and needs due to being non-verbal and sometimes anticipating his needs if he cannot communicate them himself.
• Always ensuring the safety of the child.
• Being physically fit; he is a very active child and prefers to be outside on long walks and at the park.

• Experience with non-verbal children is desired.
• Understanding of ADHD essential.
• Understanding of autism essential.
• Flexible, reliable and honest.
• Physically fit, agile and energetic.
• DBS check will be completed.

Dover, Kent

Number of PA roles available: 1 (however also willing to explore job sharing if a good fit).

£13 per hour

Term Time: 5 hours per week
Non-Term Time: 10 hours per week
