Job Summary

The primary duty of a part-time faculty member is teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Class Schedule - Meet each class as scheduled at the designated time and place and for the designated length of time.
  • Course Syllabus - At the beginning of each course, provide each student with a syllabus per the guidelines in the faculty handbook.
  • Office Hours - Maintain a minimum of ten office hours for student consultation per week, appropriate to the time and delivery method of the assigned courses (e.g., evening, week-end, on-line, or off-campus) and post this information.
  • Course Development - Develop new courses and course materials as appropriate.
  • Meeting Attendance - Attend and participate in all college-wide and appropriate School meetings.
  • Professional Development - Participate in professional development activities on an on-going basis.
  • Teaching Discipline/Pedagogy - Stay current in the teaching discipline(s) and the pedagogy of that discipline.
  • Banner Administration - Submit correct proof rosters and grades in Banner by the assigned deadlines. Record daily attendance according to institutional policy.
  • Assessment - Submit assessment data to discipline committee chair in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements: The completion of a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Biology or related field.

Required Experience: Two years of teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications:

The Doctorate Degree in the Biology or related field.

Preferred Experience: Three years of teaching experience.

  • Abilities: Ability to engage students in higher order learning.
  • Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Abilities: Ability to align instruction with student learning outcomes.
  • Skills: Mastery of the teaching discipline.
  • Knowledge: Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.
