Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, this position moves our box trucks up to 26’ and for CDL Class A will include tractors and trailer movement. The position may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on‑call part‑time truck driving job perfect for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and looking to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.

Candidates must be able to work up to 4 days per week, weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

• Second shift ($2.00 starting after 11 am)
• Third shift ($3.00 starting after 9 pm)
• Weekend work ($2.00 Saturdays and Sundays regardless of start time)

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destination of Penske location or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report to location manager if any issues are found.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety‑sensitive by the company. The associate must maintain a constant state of alertness and act in a safe manner, accepting responsibility for their own safety as well as that of others.

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 2 years of a clean DMV motor‑vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required; applicant must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently; strong customer‑service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English‑language proficiency (required by 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Compliance with DOT regulations: maintain current driver qualification file, annual MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, and drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work required schedule, fulfill employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.

• Must be able to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Require frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting, use of hands to touch, handle, feel, and reach; must be able to lift or move up to 50 lb (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lb (45 kg) occasionally.
• Legally operate a motor vehicle and regularly enter/exit vehicle as well as rear cargo area.
