Overview
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118-bed acute psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center for children and adolescents, located on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. The facility also houses the New Day Academy, a state-supported year‑round K‑12 grade school with vocational opportunities. The center employs about 195 staff members.
ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse provides nursing care to psychiatric patients (children and adolescents) using the established nursing process. Key duties include:
- Documentation of patient care
- Participation in nursing groups and multidisciplinary teams
- Following program guidelines and protocols
- Medication administration
- Providing a safe and therapeutic environment by intervening with disturbed patients
- Admissions and discharges, including use of restraint techniques when necessary
- At least 21 years of age
- Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing or hold an associate degree / diploma in nursing
- Current status as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama
