Med/Surg RN (Travel Contract) – Night Shift in Dothan, AL. Night travel nursing opportunity at a 400-bed, Level II trauma center. ACLS & BLS required. 13-week contract starting March 30, 2026.

Join our travel nursing team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) on nights in Dothan, Alabama. This travel RN role places you in a large 400-bed, Level II trauma facility with a strong interdisciplinary support system. Dothan (zip 36301) is an affordable Southeast Alabama community close to parks and outdoor recreation — ideal for travel nursing assignments.

  • Shift: Nights, 4 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
  • Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (traveler preference)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7
  • Unit Size: 42 beds
  • Patient Population:
    Adults, Geriatrics
  • Weekend Coverage:
    Required
  • Orientation: 16 hours
Compensation
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570 - $1650 (based on experience and shift selection)
Qualifications
  • Active Alabama RN license (in-hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience (experience in large facilities preferred)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring preferred
  • Chemotherapy administration and port management experience preferred
  • Must reside outside a 90-mile radius from Dothan, AL (travel RN requirement)
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered for COVID-19 only)
  • Travel nursing experience preferred; strong clinical Med/Surg candidates will be considered
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform treatments as ordered
  • Utilize telemetry for cardiac monitoring and respond to changes in patient status
  • Safely administer chemotherapy and manage ports when required by unit needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Case Management
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record
  • Participate in self-scheduling, provide required weekend coverage, and support rapid response events
  • Maintain patient safety, infection control standards, and unit best practices at all times
